The Kunda River ( Estonian Kunda jõgi ) is a river in the Estonian Lääne-Viru County .

It rises about 1.5 km north of the village of Roela (municipality of Vinni ) and flows into the Gulf of Finland into the Baltic Sea . With a length of 69 km it is the longest river in northern Estonia. The upper course is on the Pandivere ridge .

Other names for the Kunda River are Võhu jõgi (upper reaches), Põlula, Sämi and Semmijõgi (middle section).

The Kunda River is known for its abundance of brown trout .
