Kuniwo Nakamura (born November 24, 1943 ) is a Palaui politician with Japanese roots.

Before his tenure as President of Palau, he held the office of Vice President of the island state from 1988 to 1993, ie one term. From 1993 to 2001 he ruled the country as head of state until he stepped down on January 1, 2001 in favor of his successor Tommy Remengesau .

Nakamura is the son of Japanese immigrants .
