Lazarus Salii
Lazarus Salii (born November 17, 1936 , † August 20, 1988 in Koror ) was a Palaui politician.
Life
On October 25, 1985, Salii succeeded Alfonso Oiterong as President of the then not yet independent state of Palau. Before the end of his term of office - he had been elected for four years - Salii died by suicide on August 20, 1988 in Koror, the largest town in the state of Palau . Until a successor was elected, Thomas Remengesau Sr. continued in office, as he had done for three days after Haruo Remeliik was murdered three years earlier. On January 1, 1989, Ngiratkel Etpison took over the presidency.
