Kuno von der Kettenburg (born August 4, 1811 in Matgendorf , † June 10, 1882 in Matgendorf) was a Mecklenburg landowner, grand ducal Mecklenburg-Strelitz chamberlain and knight of honor of the Order of Malta .

Life

Kuno August Peter Freiherr von der Kettenburg comes from the original Lüneburg noble family von der Kettenburg . The Kettenburgs settled in Mecklenburg in 1623, where they acquired the Matgendorf, Wüstenfelde and later Schwetzin near Teterow estates. Kuno von der Kettenburg, who studied law in Berlin, was hereditary lord and court lord on Matgendorf, Wüstenfelde and Schwetzin, on Kettenburg and Hünzingen as well as the rule of Faal in Styria. In 1848/49, Kettenburg belonged to the constituent assembly of MPs in Mecklenburg for the constituent district of Vietgest.

He married Thekla Freiin von der Günderrode in Strelitz in 1836 . There were four children from this marriage:

  • Kuno Maximilian Philipp Ludwig (born February 3, 1838, † November 20, 1907)
  • Kuno Maximilian Johann Friedrich (born June 3, 1839, † February 19, 1915)
  • Kuno Erich Karl August Octavio (born September 9, 1840, † May 25, 1881)
  • Kuno Franz Heinrich August (born November 22, 1841, † November 29, 1899)

The family was first Protestant and since 1852 Catholic. Also under the influence of the writer Ida Hahn-Hahn , who also came from Mecklenburg and had converted two years earlier , the Kettenburgs made the Catholic creed on May 22, 1852 in front of Bishop Wilhelm Emmanuel von Ketteler in Mainz. Their transfer sparked violent disputes in Mecklenburg over Catholic worship in the country.
