Gunsan Airport is a civil airport near Gunsan in South Korea . In 2011, the airport recorded a throughput of 172,327 passengers. The airport is currently only served by two airlines. The US Kunsan Air Base , part of the United States Forces Korea is at this airport connected and used much of the technical infrastructure. Furthermore, the base uses the same IATA and ICAO IDs. The airport is also used by the South Korean Air Force (RoKAF).

Kunsan Air Base

An American fighter squadron is stationed on Kunsan AB with the 8th Fighter Wing Wolf Pack . This consists of the 35th Fighter Squadron Pantons and the 80th Fighter Squadron Juvats , both of which are equipped with F-16C / D Block 40. The air base is also used by the RoKAF's 38th Fighter Group, which is also equipped with F-16s. Outside of the command structure (Department of Defense › US Pacific Command  › US Forces Korea › 7th Air Force ), the AFB also includes the following units or representative offices (tenant units): 1st Air Defense Artillery, Area Defense Counsel, American Forces Network , Army & Air Force Exchange Service , Defense Commissary Agency, Kunsan AB AMC Passenger Terminal, and Office of Special Investigations (Justice). 2,900 people work at Kunsan Air Base. As with all US air bases overseas, there is a residential complex and utilities for US personnel and their dependents.
