Art forum of the TU Darmstadt

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The art forum of the TU Darmstadt is an exhibition space at the Technical University of Darmstadt . It is used both in its own exhibition space in the old main building of the university and in public areas such as the moat and the forecourt of the Darmstadtium congress center .

history

The art forum of the TU Darmstadt was opened on June 18, 2016 with the exhibition "Carola Keitel OUT OF ORDER" by Julia Reichelt (head of the art forum of the TU Darmstadt) and Dr. Manfred Efinger (Chancellor of TU Darmstadt) opened. The Kunstforum was already involved in the two-day Darmstadt Photography Days 2016. In addition to the exhibition area in the old main building of the Technical University of Darmstadt, other public spaces are also used, including the palace gardens, the Darmstadtium or the Darmstadt University and State Library . An example of this is the work of art "Staircase into Nowhere" by the artist Carola Keitel, a subway sign to platform 9 3/4 . Other installations include the sculpture "Rollercoaster" by Stefan Rohrer , the kinetic installation "Gentle Swing" by Hans-Michael Kissel or "Bust" by Franz Bernhard .

The Kunstforum also sees itself as a place for cultural events: It wants to "make a significant contribution to aesthetic education and [...] to the creation of new interfaces between art, culture and science". The focus here is on "encounters with contemporary art and [the] examination of socially relevant topics". Accordingly, there is also cooperation with other art institutions in Darmstadt , the Rhine-Main area and internationally, such as the Atelierhaus Darmstadt , the Museum of Applied Arts Frankfurt , the Museum of Modern Art or the regional fund for contemporary art FRAC Provence-Alpes-Côte d ' Azur in Marseille and FRAC Auvergne in Clermont-Ferrand .
