Luca Grünwald (born November 10, 1994 in Mühldorf am Inn ) is a German motorcycle racer .

Career

Grünwald initially rode a minibike . After finishing fourth in the 2004 season and second a year later, he became champion in the Mini Bike Cup in 2006. In the 2007 season, Grünwald was promoted to the ADAC Junior Cup and became the youngest starter with four victories. In 2008 he started for the first time in the International German Motorcycle Championship in the class up to 125 cm³ and finished eleventh. In the following year, Grünwald achieved his first placements on the podium and fourth overall.

For the 2010 season he switched to Team Freudenberg and thus the first IDM title on Seel 125 cm³. In 2012 , Grünwald was the first winner of the newly created IDM Moto3 category on a KTM . He achieved twelve wins and an eighth place in the guest World Cup at the Sachsenring . In the 2014 season he was promoted to the motorcycle world championship, where he competed with the Kiefer Racing Team in the Moto3 class. Grünwald did not reach the points, however.

In the 2015 season, Grünwald rode a Kawasaki in the IDM Superbike for the first time . He reached position seven in the overall standings. Another season followed in the Freudenberg Racing Team, where he was runner-up in the IDM Superstock 1000. Grünwald won four races.

For the 2018 season, Grünwald announced its participation in the Supersport 300 World Championship as part of the Superbike World Championship . He won the race in Assen and finished the season in 4th place overall.
