The Supersport 300 World Championship is a racing class for near-series motorcycles . The first season was officially held as a world championship in 2017 under the umbrella of the FIM . The races take place as part of the Superbike World Championship . Initially only on the European racetracks , in the future it will also be used internationally.

Rules and regulations

The class was created as an entry-level class for the Superbike World Championship. Young talent should be found and promoted. The minimum age for participation is 15 years.

Motorcycles of the EU driving license class A2 are permitted and can be purchased in Europe . In detail these are:

• Honda with the CBR 500 R
• Kawasaki with the Ninja 300
• KTM with the RC 390
• Yamaha with the YZF-R3

Since these motorcycles follow different concepts, they are subject to various restrictions in order to ensure equal opportunities.

• Each driver may use a maximum of two sets of dry tires or one set of rain tires per race.
• The number of engines is not limited.
• The engines must largely correspond to the homologated version.

• There are three options for the ECU :
  • The homologated version can be used without any changes.
  • The homologated version can be used with an external injection module removed from the FIM.
  • An ECU from FIM, the so-called World SSP 300 Kit , can be used.
• The following components can be removed:
  • Components that are installed mainly because of emissions . For example the lambda probe .
  • Speedometer
  • Chain guard as long as it does not form a unit with the rear wheel cover.
• The following components must be removed:
  • catalyst
  • Front and rear light unit, as well as the flashing lights .
  • Rearview mirror
  • horn
  • License plate holder
  • On-board tool
  • Helmet and luggage hooks
  • Pillion - footrests and passenger grab handles
  • Side and / or main stand
• The following components must be installed (if not already available):
  • A red, working kill switch
  • The oil drain plug must be secured.
  • Any ventilation or overflow lines must have appropriate collecting devices.
  • If not available, an oil pressure warning light must be installed.
