ADAC motor sportsman of the year

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The ADAC Motorsporter of the Year award is an award from the ADAC that is presented to a motor sportsman annually.

history

The ADAC Motorsporter of the Year award has been presented annually since 1980. An expert jury made up of media and ADAC representatives will select the winner from a list of suggestions. The winner will receive the award at the ADAC sports gala, which takes place every December at the ADAC eV headquarters in Munich. In addition to the ADAC Motorsportman of the Year award, the ADAC Junior Motorsporter award and, in rare cases, the ADAC Ehren-Christophorus have been presented since 1990 .

Prize winners are German motorsport enthusiasts or foreign motor athletes who are active in Germany. The first woman to be honored was Michèle Mouton in 1986 . In addition to Mouton, four female racing drivers have so far been awarded this prize: Claudia Knape in 1990, Isolde Holderied in 1995 and Jutta Kleinschmidt in 2001. Mouton was also the first non-German female motor sportsperson to win the award. Other award winners from abroad are Johnny Cecotto and Sébastien Loeb . Michael Schumacher , Bernd Schneider and Martin Tomczyk have won the Motor Sportsman of the Year award twice so far. Sebastian Vettel , Ken Roczen , Nico Hülkenberg and Nico Rosberg have received both the junior and the motorsport award. A racing driver from the DTM or the previous series, the German Touring Car Championship, received the award eight times . In the Formula 1 active racers six times could receive the prize. In addition to the main racing series, motor sports enthusiasts from marginalized groups such as rail sports or motorboat sports also received this award.
