Eddy Hau

Eduard "Eddy" Hau (born March 19, 1952 in Niederwerrn ) is a former German enduro and motocross racing driver.

Career

Hau began his career in 1969 in Schweinfurt as a private driver with a 50 cm³ Hercules - Sachs . In 1975 he switched to Zündapp as a works driver , where he immediately won the International Six-Day Race on the Isle of Man in 1975 with the team from the Federal Republic of Germany led by Josef Wolfgruber , Peter Neumann , Eberhard Weber , Jürgen Grisse and Rolf Witthöft . In the course of a photo shoot this year it was included as a poster in an issue of the youth magazine BRAVO . Also in 1976 he was able to successfully defend the FIM World Trophy with the same German team in Zeltweg .

In 1979 and 1980 Eddy Hau won the Enduro European Championship in the class up to 100 cm³ . In 1982 and 1983 he did the same in the 500 cc four-stroke class. He achieved two titles on a Zündapp and two on a four-stroke Yamaha.

From 1984 Hau drove several rallies for BMW , including the famous Paris-Dakar , where he achieved his best result in 1986 with seventh place.

He was also head of the ADAC enduro and motocross school from 1983 to 1993.
