51st international six-day trip
The 51st international six-day race was the team world championship in enduro sport and took place from September 20 to 25, 1976 in Zeltweg, Austria and Styria . The national team of the Federal Republic of Germany won the World Trophy for the sixth and second time in a row. The national team of Czechoslovakia won the silver vase for the fifteenth time.

The six-day trip took place for the third (a) time in Austria after 1952 and 1960 . The organizer was the Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club (ÖAMTC)
324 drivers from 18 FIM motorsport associations were registered for the competition . Teams from 15 nations competed for the trophy standings. In addition, 15 silver vase, 30 factory and 38 club teams were at the start.
Austria, Switzerland, FRG and GDR each took part in the World Trophy and Silver Vase. In addition, nine German, five Austrian and one Swiss club teams were at the start.
On each of the first five days of driving, an acceleration test over 200 meters on the start and finish straight as well as a motocross test within the Österreichring had to be completed as daily special tests. A total of around 1,650 kilometers had to be driven within the six days.
1 day
Of the 324 registered drivers, 318 started the competition.
The first stage of the day leads over 290.1 kilometers to the southeast. Among other things, the over 1500 m above sea level. A. to climb the high mountains of the Stubalpe . The weather was slightly cloudy, but there was no precipitation.
In the World Trophy, the Czechoslovak team led ahead of the FRG and the GDR team. Austria followed in 4th place, the Swiss team was in 13th place
In the silver vase evaluation, the team from Czechoslovakia led ahead of the FRG and the team from Italy. The GDR team was in 6th place. Austria and Switzerland were in 10th and 12th place respectively.
Seven drivers dropped out of the competition.
2 day
On the second day, the route of the previous day was driven in the opposite direction. The weather was free of rain, in the morning there was still light fog in the valley.
In the World Trophy, the Czechoslovak team led ahead of the FRG and the GDR team. Austria was in 4th place, Switzerland in 13th place.
In the silver vase evaluation, the team from Czechoslovakia led ahead of the FRG and the team from Italy. The GDR team came in 6th. The Austrian team was 11th, the Swiss team followed in 12th place.
3rd day
On the third day there were 331.4 kilometers to drive. That was overcast, but remained free of precipitation.
In the World Trophy, the Czechoslovak team continued ahead of the FRG and the GDR team. Austria took 4th place, the Swiss team was 13th.
In the silver vase evaluation, the Czechoslovak team continued to lead ahead of the FRG and the Italian team. The GDR team came in 5th. The Austrian team was 10th, the Swiss team 12th
4th day
The fourth stage of the day was the longest of the event at 322.9 kilometers. The route ran with slight extensions in the opposite direction to that of the previous day.
In the World Trophy, the FRG team led ahead of Czechoslovakia and the GDR team. The Austrian team was still 4th, Switzerland 13th.
As on the previous day, the team from Czechoslovakia was ahead of the FRG and the team from Italy in the silver vase evaluation. The GDR team was in 5th place. The Austrian and Swiss teams were 10th and 12th, respectively.
5th day
On the fifth day, the 254.9 kilometer day stage led to the northwest and the Tauern region . The weather was sunny.
In the World Trophy, the FRG team continued ahead of Czechoslovakia and the GDR team. The Austrian team followed directly behind. The Swiss team was still in 13th place.
In the silver vase evaluation, the Czechoslovak team continued to lead ahead of Germany and the Italian team. The GDR team was still in 5th place. Austria took 8th place, Switzerland 10th.
6th day
On the last day of driving, a short leg of 139.6 kilometers was driven. The weather was still sunny.
The final race took place on a 2250 meter long motocross track within the Österreichring. The rules stipulated that the drivers in the 50 and 75 cm³ classes had to complete the first six laps within 25 minutes, and all other classes within 21 minutes. For a subsequent lap, the best-time driver determined the no-stop time for each run and all further laps were scored accordingly with difference points.
Of the 318 riders who started on the first day, 284 reached the finish.
