31. International six-day trip
The 31st International Six-Day Ride was an off-road motorcycle competition that took place from September 17th to 22nd, 1956 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the Werdenfelser Land . The national team of Czechoslovakia won the World Trophy for the fourth time. The silver vase went to the Netherlands for the fifth time.

The event took place for the second time in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, after the 16th International Six-Day Race (1934) was held here.
320 drivers from 19 FIM motorsport associations were registered for the competition. Teams from seven nations competed for the World Trophy. In addition, 29 silver vase, 42 factory and 21 club teams were at the start.
The FRG and Austria took part in the World Trophy. In addition, the FRG and Switzerland were each with two and Austria with a silver vase team at the start. Four German and one Swiss club team also took part.
1 day
Of the 320 registered drivers, 313 started the competition.
After the first day of driving, the teams from Great Britain, Italy, Sweden, Czechoslovakia, the USSR and the FRG were tied for punishment in the World Trophy. The Austrian team was in 7th place (58 penalty points).
In the silver vase classification, the teams from Belgium (A and B), Great Britain (A and B), Italy (A and B), the Netherlands (A and B), Poland (A and B), Sweden (A and B), the Czechoslovakia (A and B), the USSR (A and B) and the FRG (A and B) still without penalty points and were tied. The Swiss B team was in 17th place (17 penalty points). In the Austrian team, Günther Rajnoch was the first driver to retire , which from then on meant 100 penalty points every day, the team was in 21st place. Herbert Teuber was eliminated from the Swiss A team , which meant 22nd place for the team.
In the club ranking, all four German teams were still without penalty points and were on par with six other club teams. Hurni Walter retired from the Swiss Federation of Motorcyclists , the team was in 16th place (tied with a club team).

2 day
In the World Trophy, the teams from Great Britain, Sweden and Czechoslovakia were still without penalty points and were tied. The Austrian team took 5th place (86 penalty points). In the German team, Gerhard Bodmer was eliminated, the team was in 6th place.
In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Great Britain (B), the Netherlands (A and B), Poland (A and B), Czechoslovakia (B), the USSR (B) and the FRG (A) were still without penalty points and were tied. André Romailler was eliminated from the Swiss B team , the team finished 23rd. Austria came in 24th. In the A team in Switzerland, Josef Grass was the second driver to retire, putting the team in 25th place.
In the club ranking, the German participants ADAC Gau Nordbayern II and ADAC Gau Württemberg were still free of penalty points and were on par with another club team (Dum Armady Praha). The Swiss Federation of Motorcyclists was in 19th place.

3rd day
In the World Trophy, the teams from Great Britain and Czechoslovakia were still without penalty points and were tied. The Austrian team came in 5th, the FRG in 6th.
In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Great Britain (B), the Netherlands (A and B), Poland (A), Czechoslovakia (B), the USSR (B) and the FRG (A) were still without penalty points and were tied. The B-team of the FRG was in 18th place (on a par with the A-team of Sweden). Austria took 22nd place. The Swiss B team came in 23rd and the A team - after Josef Hofmann, the third driver, was eliminated - 27th.
In the club ranking, ADAC Gau Nordbayern II was the only German participant to continue without penalty points and was on par with Dum Armady Praha. Krajsky Automobilklub Praha followed in third place (1 penalty point). The Swiss Federation of Motorcyclists took 19th place.
25 drivers dropped out of the competition.
4th day
At the end of the fourth day of driving, the only team from Czechoslovakia still free of penalty points led in the World Trophy ahead of Italy and Great Britain. The German team was in 5th place. Sigmund Husar was eliminated from the Austrian team , the team was in 6th place.
In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Great Britain (B), the Netherlands (B), Poland (A), Czechoslovakia (B) and FRG (A) were still without penalty points and were tied. The B-team of the FRG was in 18th place, Austria in 23rd place. The Swiss B team came in 24th and the A team in 27th place.
The club ranking was led by Dum Armady Praha ahead of CWKS and Krajsky Automobilklub Bratislava. The best German club team was the ADAC Gau Nordbayern I team in 5th place. The Swiss Federation of Motorcyclists was in 18th place.
14 drivers dropped out of the competition.
5th day
The intermediate results after the fifth day of driving: In the World Trophy, the penalty-free team from Czechoslovakia continued ahead of Italy and Great Britain. The German team was in 5th place, the Austrian team in 6th place.
In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Great Britain (B), the Netherlands (B), Poland (A), Czechoslovakia (B) and FRG (A) were still without penalty points and were tied. The B-team of the FRG was in 16th place, Austria in 23rd place. The Swiss B team came in 24th and the A team in 27th place.

On the last day there was a stage and the final race (speed test).
Three drivers dropped out of the competition. Of the 313 drivers who started on the first day, 202 reached the finish.
