from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The 91st international six-day race was the team world championship in enduro sport and took place from October 11 to 16, 2016 in Los Arcos, Spain, and Navarra . The USA national team won the World Trophy for the first time. The Swedish team won the Junior World Trophy for the fourth time. The Women's World Trophy went to the Australian national team for the fourth time in a row.

competition

organization

The event was held in Spain for the fourth time, after the 45th (1970), 60th (1985) and 75th International Six-Day Race (2000) had already been awarded to Spain.

The parc fermé was located on the Circuito de Navarra , which was the daily start and finish point of the stages. The official opening ceremony was held in Pamplona . The participants met u. a. in the great bullring Plaza de Toros de Pamplona .

With this event, significant changes were introduced: a team for the World Trophy now consists of only four, for the Junior Trophy only three drivers. Also, according to the new regulations, there was no longer a cancellation result for either competition.

The Vintage Trophy has been added to the program . Drivers could take part in four classes with motorcycles built up to 1986. The competition ran parallel to the six-day race, but only lasted from October 14th to 16th.

The Motorex Challenge was also new to the program . The company supported participating club and vintage drivers during the event with their own lubricants and care products free of charge. In return, the participants had to put the advertising lettering on the equipment of the driver and the motorcycles. The winning team in the club competition received a special award and products worth € 2,000.

22 teams for the World Trophy, 19 for the Junior Trophy, seven for the Women's Trophy, 123 club teams and 60 Vintage Trophy drivers from a total of 31 nations took part in the competition.

Germany took part in the World Trophy and Junior Trophy as well as with six club teams. Austria also took part in the World Trophy, Junior Trophy and with a club team. Switzerland started in the World and Junior Trophy.

The route on the third day was a total of 280 kilometers, and there were two circuits to be driven again. A Motocross, Enduro and Xtreme test each had to be completed at special stages per lap . The night before, heavy rain had already set in, which lasted throughout the day and made the road surface very soft in places.

The Swedish team led the Junior Trophy ranking ahead of the USA and Italy. The Austrian team improved to 10th place. Germany was unchanged in 12th place, Switzerland improved to 13th place.

In the Women's Trophy, the Australian team continued to lead the teams from Spain and Germany. In the German team, Vanessa Danz injured her hand in a fall and hit her helmet. Since she then kept losing time, she decided to give up in order to have a one-time restart on the following day according to the regulations.

The club classification led Italy ahead of Trail Jesters and Eric Cleveland Memorial. DMSB 1 - ADAC Hessen-Thüringen / Westphalia slipped to 20th place, the Knopper Racing Team improved to 51st place.

As on the day before, the Swedish team led the USA and Italy in the Junior Trophy classification. The Austrian team improved to 9th place. Switzerland improved to 11th place, the German team slipped to 15th place. In the German team, Yanik Spachmüller had to give up before the start for health reasons: He suffered from a severe cold and high fever.

In the Women's Trophy, the Australian team still led the teams from Spain and Germany.

Italy led the club ranking ahead of Trail Jesters and United Kingdom-TEAM SCOTLAND. The DMSB 1 - ADAC Hessen-Thüringen / Westfalen team improved to 19th, the Knopper Racing Team to 47th place.

The Vintage Trophy started on the fourth day. No stage was driven, just an acceleration test as a special test. According to the results of this, the team of Great Britain led ahead of Germany and the Netherlands.

5th day

Route of the 5th day
Vintage Trophy route

The fifth stage was a one-time lap of 195 kilometers. The special stages were two motocross, one enduro and the Xtreme test shortly after the start and before the finish line . The latter was removed by the route management before the first drivers reached the destination again, as the ground was too deep.

The intermediate results after the fifth day of driving: In the World Trophy standings, the team from the USA led ahead of Great Britain and the Czech Republic. The Swiss team improved to 8th place, the German team improved to 15th place, and the Austrian team to 17th place.

In the Vintage Trophy, the only planned stage was driven. This was a circuit of 102 kilometers, during which a motocross and enduro test had to be completed as special tests. In this competition, the British team then led ahead of Italy and the Netherlands.

6th day

No stage was driven on the last day of driving. The final motocross as the last special test was held on a course set out on the grounds of the Circuito de Navarra. There were six laps to cover for a total of seven kilometers.
