history

In 1917 REX was founded in Bützberg , initially specializing in the manufacture of leather and floor care products. In 1938 the company moved from Bützberg to Langenthal to the first company building in today's industrial zone.

The MOTOREX brand emerged from REX in 1947, under which lubricants and chemotechnical products were developed, produced and sold. For the time being, around one barrel per day sold. In 1965 the production and sale of shoe and floor care products of the REX brand was discontinued. Sales of engine and gear oil were around 1200 tons per year.

In 2001, the Motorex 1-liter engine oil bottle with integrated filler neck won one of 186 WorldStar Awards presented that year , an award for innovative packaging.

The company has 200 foreign representatives worldwide and sales in 2010 were around 135 million Swiss francs .

Sponsorship

In racing, Motorex has made a name for itself with special racing products that the company develops in cooperation with racing teams. These special formulations are oils that are optimized for racing. For example, KTM only uses Motorex for its racing teams (Factory Racing). The American AMA team, Yoshimura Suzuki, also uses these products.

The teams have collected 11 world championship titles in the off-road sector since 2005 with drivers such as Yves Demaria and Marvin Musquin; 8 world championship titles in the Enduro area where David Knight and Ivan Cervantes in particular stood out; Mat Rebeaud was able to secure the title in the freestyle competition several times ; and in the AMA Superbike she achieved successes with more than 7 championship titles from riders like Mat Mladin.

There are also partnerships in the mountain bike area. This includes Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesjå from the Multivan Merida Biking Team, who has been MTB world champion 8 times.
