Das kleine Zimmer is a feature film released in 2010 by Swiss directors Stéphanie Chuat and Véronique Reymond . The film about a geriatric nurse who lost her child at birth and an elderly gentleman who is about to be deported to the nursing home won the same year and a. the Swiss Quartz Film Prize for Best Film and Best Screenplay and was the 2011 Swiss Oscar entry for Best Foreign Language Film.
The film is a Swiss / Luxembourg coproduction by Vega Film / Iris Productions. Michel Bouquet and Florence Loiret-Caille play the leading roles .

Edmond is an elderly gentleman who tenaciously defends his independence. He refuses to go to a retirement home and also refuses the help of the house keeper Rose, who lost her child in the birth. When Edmond is deported to a nursing home by his son against his will after a fall, Rose takes him in. There he moves into the room that was intended for Rose's child and thus helps her to cope with her grief. A friendship develops between the two in which he maintains his independence and she regains her freedom from grief.
