12. International six-day trip
The 12th International Six-Day Ride was an off-road motorcycle competition that took place from July 29 to August 3, 1930 in Grenoble and the surrounding Alps. With the first victories of the Italian trophy team and the French silver vase team, the longstanding dominance of the British in the international six-day race ended .

The international six-day race held in the French and Italian Alps covered a total distance of 1939 kilometers. Teams from Great Britain, France, Italy and Belgium competed for the trophy rating. Teams from Great Britain, France, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands and Czechoslovakia were registered for the silver vase evaluation. Twelve teams fight for the brand classification.
A total of 87 drivers were registered, 85 drivers started the competition. A gold medal was given to drivers who had no penalty points. A maximum of 10 penalty points are awarded for a silver medal and a maximum of 25 penalty points for a bronze medal. With 26 to a maximum of 50 penalty points, the driver received a certificate.
1 day
On the first day, the 303-kilometer route led via Barby , Beaufort to Saint-Gervais-les-Bains and back to Grenoble. There were already several failures on the first stage. Among the twelve tasks was the British George Brough , who collided with a car and broke his leg. With the failure of Nortier, the Dutch Silver Vase A-Team burst.
13 drivers dropped out of the competition.
2 day
The 304-kilometer route led from Grenoble via Chambery , Cruet and Aix-les-Bains back to Grenoble. One of the difficulties of the day's stage was the Crucheron Pass . The bad weather had increased the demands on the drivers. Again there were several failures. With the failure of Howard Uzzell, the British Silbervasen-A-Team burst.
Five drivers dropped out of the competition.
3rd day
On the third day, the 398-kilometer route led from Grenoble via Modane , Turin and Gattinara to Stresa . Six drivers had to give up that day. Among them was the only German driver, Julius von Krohn on Zündapp.
The Italian team is in the lead in the trophy standings. So far, the French team has had the best result in the silver vase rating. With the failure of Edyth Foley, the British silver vase B team burst.

4th day
The route ran over 393 kilometers from Stresa via Domodossola , the Simplon Pass to Chamonix , the Col de la Forclaz , Bonvilliard back to Grenoble.
Another three drivers were eliminated. A total of 24 drivers had already received penalty points. The Dutch B-team burst due to a gearbox defect on the Sybrandy machine. In the Trophy classification, only the Italian team was complete. In the silver vase evaluation, only the Italian and French teams could fight for victory. All other teams had lost one or more drivers.
Five drivers dropped out of the competition.
5th day
On the fifth day, the 303-kilometer route led from Grenoble to Allemond , Siévoz and Laffrey and back. The Col de Glendon had to be crossed. During this stage, two Italian drivers were disqualified because they received fuel from the support vehicle during the journey.
6th day
On the last day, another 238 kilometers had to be covered over Corps , Mensac and Vis . As a final test, a speed test took place in Grenoble on the Circuit du Dauphiné .
Four drivers dropped out of the competition. Of the 87 drivers who started on the first day, 50 reached the finish.

33 drivers were free of penalty points. The three British starters Marjorie Cottle on BSA , Newton on Royal Enfield and Lermitte on Rudge were among the gold medal winners .
Ariel won the brand rating in the 500 cc class, AJS in the 350 cc class and MAS in the 175 cc class. All other factory teams were down.
