In 1989 the last international six-day trip took place in Germany in Walldürn in the Odenwald. After the enduro event Around Zschopau was part of the Enduro World Championship in Zschopau in 2004 , the idea arose to run the six-day race in this region. The ADAC Sachsen therefore tried to organize the event.

At the FIM spring meeting from February 25th to 28th, 2010, Germany won the bid with 10: 1 votes.

The start and finish were on the Sachsenring grounds. The paddock and the parc fermé were also located there.

The defending champions were Finland in the FIM World Trophy, France in the Junior World Trophy and the Women's Trophy, Husaberg-Czech in the club classification and KTM 1 in the manufacturers classification.

The maximum number of starters was set at 504. The entries of 24 teams for the World Trophy, 19 teams for the Junior World Trophy, seven for the Women's World Trophy and 79 club teams and four individual starters from a total of 36 nations were confirmed.
