3. International six-day trip

The Gotthard Pass had to be crossed on the 3rd international six-day trip.

The 3rd International Six-Day Tour took place in Switzerland from August 1 to 6, 1921 . The start and finish point was Geneva .

After the national team of the Swiss motorsport association Union de Motocycliste Suisse had won the trophy classification of the 2nd international six-day race, it was allowed to defend the challenge cup in the 3rd edition of this competition on domestic territory. The route led through the whole of Switzerland and was also marked by many passes.

The Swiss team was able to defend its previous year's success.

A total of 51 drivers from Switzerland (20), the United Kingdom (26) and France (5) had registered for the 3rd international six-day race.

1 day

The stage on the first day leads from Geneva to La Chaux-de-Fonds over 240 kilometers. There were no failures.

2 day

On the second day, the competitors drove from La Chaux-de-Fonds to Basel . The 246-kilometer route led, among other things, over the Stierenberg and the Weissenstein Pass .

Four riders had to retire that day, two of them after a crash.

3rd day

On the third day, the 341-kilometer route between Basel and Zurich had to be covered.

Three drivers dropped out, one due to exceeding the permitted driving time.

4th day

On the fourth day, the stage led over 299 kilometers from Zurich to Lugano .

The Gotthard Pass was crossed in continuous rain and low temperatures .

One driver retired due to a technical defect.

5th day

The stage on the fifth day led from Lugano to Freiburg . The 323-kilometer route led across the Furka Pass and through Bern .

A driver had to give up because of a technical defect.

6th day

On the last day of the competition, the route led over 315 kilometers from Friborg to Geneva. At the Col du broken one was hillclimb performed. While the Swiss Morand lost time against the British Williams here, his two teammates Gex and Rothenbach were faster than the British Gibson and Newman. Rothenbach set the fastest time with his 1000 cc Motosacoche with 4 minutes 31.4 seconds.

Due to a mistake by Briton Lengman in the kilometer speed test, the British Scott team lost first place in the works team classification to Motosacoche.

Of the 51 drivers who started, twelve were canceled. 5 drivers received the great gold medal, 28 a gold medal and 4 a silver medal.

The best drivers were Clerc on Condor (motorbikes up to 250 cm³), Williams on AJS (motorbikes up to 350 cm³), Robert on Motosacoche (motorbikes up to 500 cm³), Wood on Scott (motorbikes up to 750 cm³), Rothenbach on Motosacoche (motorbikes up to 1000 cm³) cm³), Eduoard Gex on Motosacoche (sidecar up to 1000 cm³) and Honel with GN ( Cyclecars ) In the brand classification Motosacoche (2951 points) won ahead of Scott (2934 points) and Douglas Motors (2920 points).

In the club classification, the MC Pâquis (2945 points) won ahead of the Worcester Club (2819 points), at the same time the British trophy team, and the second selection of the MC Pâquis (2817 points).
