27. International six-day trip

The 27th International Six-Day Ride was an off-road motorcycle competition that took place from September 18 to 23, 1952 in Bad Aussee, Austria, and the surrounding Eastern Alps . The national teams of the ČSSR were able to win the World Trophy for the second time and the silver vase for the third time.

The six-day trip took place for the first (a) time in Austria. The organizer was the Austrian Automobile, Motorcycle and Touring Club (ÖAMTC)

262 drivers from eleven FIM motorsport associations were registered for the competition . Teams from six nations competed for the World Trophy. In addition, twelve silver vase, 19 factory and 32 club teams were at the start.

A total of 2,300.7 kilometers had to be covered.

Every driver who did not score any penalty points received a gold medal. No more than 10 penalty points were allowed for a silver medal and a maximum of 50 penalty points for a bronze medal.

1 day

The Großglockner High Alpine Road from north to south was part of the first day's stage.

Of the 262 registered riders, 260 started the competition.

The stage of the first day of driving was 450.8 kilometers long. After starting at the sports field in Bad Aussee, it went via Obertraun , Hallstatt , the Gschütt , Annaberg , Niedernfritz , Fritztal , Bischofshofen , Mühlbach , Birgkarhaus, Dienten , Taxenbach to Bruck . From there to the south over the Großglockner High Alpine Road, in the course of which the maximum height of the stage is 2506  m above sea level. A. was reached until after Heiligenblut it went on to Winklern . From there on via Obervellach , through the Möll valley to Gmünd , where the lunch station was set up. Continue over the Katschberghöhe , Mauterndorf , the Twenger Talpass , Ober- and Untertauern , Forstau , Mandling , Filzmoos , Niedernfritz, Annaberg, the Gschütt, Gosauzwang and the Pötschenpass back to Bad Aussee.

There were eight time controls and two transit controls along the route.

In the trophy standings, the British and Czechoslovak teams were all equal and without penalty points, while Sweden was in third place with 14 penalty points. The German, Austrian and Italian teams each had a driver absence.

In the silver vase ranking, the teams from Germany, Sweden, Italy (A), Austria (A and B), Czechoslovakia (B), Great Britain (A and B) and the Netherlands (A and B) were all tied with no penalty points.

24 drivers dropped out of the competition.

2 day

With a total length of 461.4 kilometers, the second day's stage was the longest of the event.

From Bad Aussee the route led via Mitterndorf , Tipschern , Irdning , Lassing , Selzthal , Admont , Hieflau , Eisenerz , Vordernberg , Bruck an der Mur , Pernegg , St. Erhard , the Teichalm , the Gollersattel , Eggersdorf , Laßnitzhöhe , Hausmannstätten and Liebenau to Puntigam , where the lunch break took place. We continued via Tobelbad , Köflach , Gaberl Straße , Judenburg , Unterzeiring , Sankt Johann am Tauern , Hohentauern, Trieben , Rottenmann , Liezen and Mitterndorf back to Bad Aussee.

Nine time controls and four transit controls were set up along the route.

The Czechoslovakia team with no penalty points led in the trophy standings. The teams from Great Britain and Sweden, which were still complete up to that point, each had a driver absence. In the German team, Gerd Reinhardt, the second driver, was canceled.

In the silver vase classification, the teams from Germany, Italy (A), Great Britain (B) and the Netherlands (A and B) were still complete and free of penalty points. Franz Gnaser was eliminated from Austria's A team. The Austrian B team had with Hans Zezula jun. and Edi Platzer recorded two driver failures.

31 drivers dropped out of the competition.

3rd day

Hallstatt was crossed on the 1st and 3rd day

The route on the third day of the journey was 423.8 kilometers long and, after starting in Bad Aussee, led via Mitterndorf, Irdning, Lassing, Selzthal, Admont, Trieben, Hohentauern , Unterzeiring, Pöls , Judenburg, Schmelz , Obdach , Klippitztörl , Lölling , Waitschach , Baierberg and Kräuping to Friesach for a lunch break. From there it went via Neumarkt , Sankt Lambrecht , Murau , Tamsweg , Mauterndorf , Untertauern , Radstadt , Niedernfritz, Annaberg, Pass Gschütt, Gosauzwang, Hallstatt and Obertraun back to Bad Aussee.

There were seven time controls and five transit controls along the route.

In the Trophy classification, the only remaining team from Czechoslovakia was in the lead, but had collected two penalty points. The German team has now had seven penalty points.

In the silver vase classification, the teams from Germany, Great Britain (B) and the Netherlands (A) were still complete and tied without penalty points. Herbert Czakoi, the second driver in Austria's A team, was canceled.

17 drivers were eliminated from the competition.

4th day

On the fourth day of the journey, 440.7 kilometers had to be covered. The stage led from Bad Aussee via Mitterndorf, Liezen, Trieben, Hohentauern, Oberzeiring , Oberwölz , Murau, Stadl an der Mur , Flattnitz , Kleinglödnitz and Weitensfeld to Feldkirchen where the lunch break was set up. We continued via Urschwirt, Sirnitz , the Hochrindl pass , Reichenau , the Turracher Höhe , Predlitz , Tamsweg, Mauterndorf, Tauernhöhe, Radstadt, Filzmoos, Mandling, Schladming , Gröbming and Mitterndorf back to Bad Aussee.

Seven time controls and five transit controls were set up along the route.

In the trophy standings, the Czechoslovak team continued to lead with five penalty points. Otto Kollmar retired as the third driver of the German team.

In the silver vase standings, the German team led ahead of the B-team from the Netherlands and the B-team from Czechoslovakia.

17 drivers were eliminated from the competition.

5th day

The stage of the fifth day of the journey was 400.2 kilometers long. It led via Altaussee , Bad Ischl , Weißenbach , Neukirchen , Altmünster , Gmunden , Grünau , Steyrling , Frauenstein , Ramsau and Molln to Steyr , where the lunch break took place. We continued via Hofkirchen , Neuhofen , Marchtrenk , Krenglbach , Grieskirchen , Haag , Pattigham , Mettmach , Mondsee , Scharfling , Sankt Gilgen , Bad Ischl, Kaltenbach , Lauffen and the Pötschenpass back to Bad Aussee.

There were seven time controls and nine transit controls along the route.

The Czechoslovak team continued to lead in the trophy standings. After the second driver in the British team was canceled, Austria moved up to second place.

In the silver vase classification, as on the day before, the German team led ahead of the B-team from Czechoslovakia and the B-team from the Netherlands.

Nine drivers dropped out of the competition.

6th day

The last day's stage led over 123.8 kilometers from Bad Aussee over the Pötschenpass, Gosauzwang, the Gschütt, Abtenau, Scheffau , Golling , Sankt Koloman , Vigaun , Hallein , Adnet , Krispl , Glasenbach , Hellbrunn and Morzg to the Tauern Autobahn 10 near Glanegg where the start of the final speed test was.

The speed test took place on a circuit set up over 5.6 kilometers. Depending on the class, the drivers had to complete a certain number of laps (see table) within an hour.

Four drivers dropped out of the competition. Of the 260 drivers who started on the first day, 158 reached the finish.

In the German Silbervasen team - up until then leading without penalty points - Hans Roth received 60 penalty points in the final race, which meant that the team lost first place.
