Neuhofen an der Krems is a market town in the Linz-Land district in central Upper Austria with 6637 (as of January 1, 2020) inhabitants. The responsible judicial district is the judicial district of Traun .
geography
The place is located at an altitude of 303 m in the middle of the city triangle Linz - Wels - Steyr . The extension is from north to south 6.3 km, from west to east 6.4 km. The total area is 17.9 km². 9.5% of the area is forested, 74.9% of the area is used for agriculture.
The municipality borders in the north on the city of Ansfelden and Pucking , in the east on St. Marien , in the south on Piberbach , in the south-west on Kematen an der Krems and in the west on Allhaming .

Official description of the municipal coat of arms : Shared; above in blue a golden, red-horned and armed, fire-breathing, half-erect panther; at the bottom the red antiqua capital letter N in silver, set with a cross adjoining the dividing line. The municipality colors are yellow-red.
history
The earliest written record is from 888 and reads "Niwanhoua" ( at the new homesteads ).
Originally located in the eastern part of the Duchy of Bavaria, the place belonged to the Duchy of Austria since the 12th century. Since 1490 it has been assigned to the Principality of Austria ob der Enns .
During the Napoleonic Wars , the place was occupied several times.
Since 1918 the place belongs to the federal state of Upper Austria. After the annexation of Austria to the German Reich on March 13, 1938, the place belonged to the Gau Oberdonau . In Schloss Gschwendt , a branch of the Niedernhart state insane asylum in Linz, many patients were murdered by means of malnutrition and medication under the medical direction of Rudolf Lonauer . After 1945 the restoration of Upper Austria took place.
