competition
93 drivers had registered for the competition in Merano, northern Italy. 88 riders started the competition over a total of 1907 kilometers on the first day. The Italian team had to defend the trophy against teams from Great Britain, France and Germany. For Germany started Ernst Jakob Henne on BMW , Julius Krohn on Zündapp and Josef Mauermayer with a BMW sidecar.
Two teams each from Great Britain, Italy and the Netherlands and one team each from Germany, France, Czechoslovakia and Belgium entered the silver vase evaluation. For Germany started Hans Hieronymus to Zündapp , Josef Stelzer on BMW and Johannes middle two with a Zündapp team.
Of the 88 drivers, eleven were on the road with sidecars.
1 day
The 319.8 kilometer route on the first day led over various passes in the Dolomites . Among other things, the Jaufenpass , the Falzarego Pass , the Pordoi and the Sella Pass had to be crossed. Due to the failure of the Brit Perry and a French driver, the trophy teams of these two nations burst.
In the silver vase teams, the teams from Italy (A-Team), Czechoslovakia and Belgium burst on the first day. In the silver vase rating, the two British teams, the French team, the A-team from the Netherlands and the Italian B-team are free of penalty points. The German team has one penalty point.
A total of five drivers were canceled. 16 drivers received penalty points.
2 day
The route of 327 kilometers led again over several Dolomite passes in pouring rain.
At the end of the day only the teams from Italy and Germany were free of penalty points in the Trophy classification. France has 103 and Great Britain 200 penalty points. In the silver vase classification, the Dutch A-team and the Italian B-team are still free of penalty points. The German and British B teams each have one penalty point. This is followed by the Dutch B team (23 penalty points), Great Britain A team (100), France (103), Italy A (200) and the Czech team (253).
Eight drivers dropped out of the competition.
3rd day
On the third day there was a 373 kilometer loop over Trient , Asiago , the Rolle Pass , Predazzo and Auer . At times there was heavy rain.
The trophy team received three penalty points due to a collision of the German von Krohn and the subsequent failure to meet the time limit. Due to the failure of Jelle Sybrandy, the Dutch B-Team burst.
No driver was eliminated from the competition.
4th day
The 335 km long route led from Merano over the Mendola , Dimaro , Passo Tonale , Edolo , Aprica , Madonna di Tirano , Bormio and the Stelvio back to Merano.
von Krohn lost time due to a tire change and in the end received three penalty points. This means that only the Italian team has no penalty in the Trophy classification. This is followed by Germany with six penalty points and Great Britain with 300 penalty points.
In the silver vase classification, the first teams from Great Britain, Italy and the Netherlands have not yet received any penalty points. This is followed by Germany (1 penalty point), Netherlands B (52), Great Britain B (200), France (203), Italy B (341) and Czechoslovakia (353).
One driver dropped out of the competition.
5th day
On the fifth day of the competition, the 345-kilometer route led from Merano via Bozen , Auer, Salurn , Lavis , Trient , Madonna di Campiglio , Campo Carlo Magno , Riva del Garda and Limone sul Garda to Gardone Riviera . Due to the poor road surface there were frequent tire defects with a corresponding loss of time.
The German Silbervase driver Mittenzwei received 31 penalty points due to a defect with the ignition and missing the time limit. Due to the failure of Bradley and Tater, the British Silver Vase B team burst.
Three drivers dropped out of the competition.
6th day
On the last day, another 207 kilometers had to be covered. The Autodromo Nazionale Monza racetrack was reached from Gardone via Brescia , Pisogne , Clusone and Bergamo . The final speed test took place there. With a better result in this test, the Dutch silver vase team was able to win this overall ranking against the Italian team, which was also free of penalty points.
The fastest driver on the final test was Ernst Henne with the 750 cm³ BMW.
Four drivers dropped out of the competition. Of the 88 drivers who started on the first day, 67 reached the finish.
