Dimaro (German obsolete Diemmer or Dietmarsdorf , in the local dialect: Dimàr ) is a fraction of the municipality ( comune ) Dimaro Folgarida and was an independent municipality in Trentino in the Trentino-South Tyrol region until 2015 .

geography

Dimaro is located about 36 kilometers north-northwest of Trento on the orographic right side of the valley in Val di Sole at an altitude of 766 mslm on the northern edge of the Adamello-Brenta Nature Park . On the eastern edge of Dimaro, the Meledriobach flows past the Val di Meledrio of the same name, which flows into the Noce not far from Dimaro .

On January 1, 2016, Dimaro merged with the municipality of Monclassico to form the new municipality of Dimaro Folgarida. On December 31, 2015, Dimaro had 1298 inhabitants on an area of ​​28 km². The neighboring municipalities were Malè , Cles , Commezzadura , Monclassico, Tuenno , Pinzolo and Ragoli . The Carciato fractions and the winter sports resort Folgarida belonged to the municipality of Dimaro .
