The letter Ƀ (lower case ƀ) is a letter of the Latin writing system , consisting of a B with a slash. It is used in Jorai and Katu , and also to represent Old Saxon texts.

It was at times under discussion as a replacement for the Bitcoin symbol before it was incorporated into Unicode in July 2017 .

Presentation on the computer

Unicode contains the B with a slash in the Unicode block Latin, extended-B at the code points U + 0243 (uppercase letter) and U + 0180 (lowercase letter).

The look-alike characters "␢" (U + 2422 in the control pictures ) used since the 1960s as a visible symbol for a hidden space (English blank ), particularly in the BCD code of IBM , for example, in the printer of the system IBM 1401 . It is no longer used in current computers.
