The Ƃ (lower case ƃ) is a letter of the Latin writing system . It consists of a B with a horizontal line at the top and in this respect is very similar to the Cyrillic letters Б or б.
In Zhuang , the letter was used from 1957 to 1986 to represent the sound / mb /. Then it was replaced by the digraph mb .
Sometimes the capital letter Ƃ is also used as a counterpart to the lower case letter ɓ . Works of literature that use the capital letter in this context include the Practical Orthography of African Languages from 1930 and a New Testament in Loma from 1971.
