Б

The Б: 1. Uppercase 2. Lower case in East Slavic and Bulgarian , 3. Lower case in Serbian and Macedonian

The Be ( Б and б ) is the second letter of the Cyrillic alphabet . It stands for the consonantic sound / b /, which is identical to the German b . In Russian and Bulgarian it can also stand for [ p ] at the end of a word ( final hardening ) or, in front of a palatalizing vowel , for [ ].

It looks like a “6” and should not be confused with the We , which looks like a Latin B and stands for the sound / v /. Both are derived from beta . In many manuscripts in italics as well as in the upright (i.e. also non-italic) font styles common in the Balkans , the small б usually looks like a small delta ( δ ); in other manuscripts like a small d slanted to the left with a stroke to the right.

His old name is Buki . It had no numerical value.
