The Ҫ, ҫ is a letter of the Cyrillic alphabet, consisting of a С with cedilla. It occurs in the alphabets of the Chuvash and Bashkir languages . In Bashkir it is a voiceless dental fricative [ θ ], in Chuvash it is a voiceless alveolopalatal fricative [ ɕ ] or voiced alveolopalatal fricative [ ʑ ] in the intervocal positions. In Latin transcription , the Ҫ is either used as th (mostly in English ) or as z or c in southern European languages. This letter should not be confused with the Ç , despite the strong similarity .
