Friedrich Wilhelm von Eickstedt-Peterswald (born December 4, 1703 in Koblentz near Stettin , † April 10, 1772 in Berlin ) (count from 1753) was royal Prussian secret councilor and minister of war. He was also a "grand maitre de la garderobe", knight of the Order of St. John, Freemason , Chamberlain in the Prussian part of Western Pomerania as well as palace and castle seated in Koblentz, Gellin, Lebbehn and Grambow.

He was the son of Friedrich Wilhelm von Eickstedt '(May 15, 1655; † October 15, 1710) and his second wife Helene Juliane von Peterswald (January 10, 1680; † March 30, 1751). The father's first wife was Anna Sibylle von Stalburg (born January 27, 1636, † January 12, 1699). This first woman had already been widowed twice, her first husband was the cloth merchant Johann Martin du Fay (* May 10, 1632; † May 22, 1674), the second Johann Wilhelm Curtius (* 1599; † 1678) was English Minister-Resident and Baronet . She brought a lot of money into the marriage and thus enabled her husband to buy large estates in Pomerania; But children didn't come.

Life

He was well educated, had attended university and traveled. He began his career in the Hessian military service, but soon became chamberlain to Emperor Karl VII. When his maternal uncle - Karl Friedrich von Peterswald, British and Hanoverian chief stableman - died on January 24, 1753, he became his universal heir. He inherited the Pritzler and Quassel estates in Mecklenburg, which he sold for 120,000 thalers and instead acquired the Klein-Wirsewitz, Klein-Potsch and Kettenborn estates in Silesia.

On January 28, 1753, the Prussian King Friedrich II appointed him, his and his brother Philipp Maximilian von Eickstedt-Peterswalde (1701–1743) descendants to be counts, and they were given permission to use the name Peterswalde. In 1755 he became a royal Prussian secret councilor and minister of war.

He was buried on April 13th in the Marienkirche in Berlin .
