28. International six-day trip

The 28th International Six-Day Tour was an off-road motorcycle competition that took place from September 15 to 20, 1953 in Gottwaldov, Czechoslovakia, and the surrounding area. The UK national team won the World Trophy for the sixteenth time. The national team of Czechoslovakia was able to win the silver vase for the fourth and second time in a row.

The event took place in Gottwaldov for the second time after the 22nd International Six-Day Race (1947) was held here.

246 drivers from 18 FIM motorsport associations were registered for the competition. Teams from five nations competed for the World Trophy. In addition, 17 silver vase, 16 factory and 32 club teams were at the start.

The FRG took part in the World Trophy and with a silver vase team. Switzerland took part with one silver vase and two club teams, Austria started with one club team.

1 day

Of the 246 registered drivers, 238 took up the competition.

In the first day's stage, a total of 374 km had to be driven. After starting in Gottwaldov, the route led in the southwest via Kunovice , Hluk , Senica , Sološnica , Bratislava , Jablonica , Myjava and Bánov back to the starting point.

After the first day of driving, the teams from Czechoslovakia, Germany, Sweden and England were tied in the World Trophy with no penalty points. The Hungarian team already had to cope with a driver absence and was in 5th and last place.

In the silver vase classification, the teams from Czechoslovakia (A and B), the Netherlands (A and B), Germany, Poland (A and B), Sweden (A and B) and Great Britain (A and B) were still without penalty points and were all scored tied. The Swiss team was in 14th place with 9 penalty points.

In the club ranking, the German participants ADAC Maico, ADAC Südbayern, Motorsport Offenbach am Main and the Austrian ÖAMTC Jawa-Club were free of penalty points and were tied with 17 other club teams. In the German ADAC Hansa and the two GDR teams, one driver was eliminated, which meant 26th place for all of them (on a par with another club team). The Swiss Club FMS II was in 30th place with 101 penalty points, FMS I, hit by two driver failures, was in 32nd and last place.

14 drivers dropped out of the competition.

2 day

On the second day, 390 kilometers had to be completed, 100 kilometers of which at night, the stage led to the southeast. Starting from Gottwaldov, the route led back to the starting point via Slavičín , Púchov , Nitrianske Pravno , Bashtín, Piešťany , Hrozenkov and Uherský Brod .

In the World Trophy, the teams from Germany and Great Britain were tied with no penalty points, with Czechoslovakia taking 3rd place.

In the silver vase classification, the teams from Czechoslovakia (A and B), the Netherlands (A and B), Germany, Poland (A and B), Sweden (A and B) and Great Britain (A and B) were still without penalty points and were all scored tied. In the Swiss team, Ernst Sager was the first driver to retire, the team was in 16th place (together with Hungary's B team).

In the club classification, the German participants ADAC Maico, ADAC Südbayern, Motorsport Offenbach am Main and the Austrian ÖAMTC Jawa Club were free of penalty points and were tied with 16 other club teams. The West German ADAC Hansa and Team I from the GDR were tied on 26th place (tied with another club team). The Swiss Club FMS II took 29th place, Team II of the GDR came 31st and FMS I was still in last place.

Eight drivers dropped out of the competition.

3rd day

On the third day, 479 kilometers had to be driven, which was also the longest day's stage. After starting in Gottwaldov, the route led back to Gottwaldov via Hluk, Myjava, Trenčianska Turná , Uhrovec , Nitrianske Pravno, Žilina , Bumbálka, Frenštát pod Radhoštěm and Vsetín .

In the World Trophy, the UK team, which was free of penalty points, led ahead of Czechoslovakia and Germany. In the latter, Walter Zeller left.

In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Czechoslovakia (A and B), the Netherlands (B), Germany, Poland (A), Sweden (B) and Great Britain (A and B) were still without penalty points and were tied. Karl Meier was the second driver to retire from the Swiss team, making the team 17th and last place.

In the club ranking, the German participants ADAC Maico, ADAC Südbayern, Motorsport Offenbach am Main and the Austrian ÖAMTC Jawa Club were free of penalty points and were tied with 15 other club teams. The West German ADAC Hansa and Team I from the GDR were still tied on 26th place. The Swiss Club FMS II took 29th place, Team II of the GDR came 31st and FMS I was still in last place.

Eleven drivers dropped out of the competition.

4th day

The fourth stage led from Gottwaldov in the north via Bystřice pod Hostýnem , Svatý Kopeček , Rýmařov , Červenohorske sedlo, Šumperk , Mohelnice and Brodek u Prostějova back to the starting point. The route length was 449 kilometers.

At the end of the fourth day of driving the World Trophy was still led by the United Kingdom team with no penalty points ahead of Czechoslovakia and Germany.

In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Czechoslovakia (A and B), the Netherlands (B), Germany, Poland (A), Sweden (B) and Great Britain (A) were still without penalty points and were tied. The Swiss team continued in last place.

In the club classification, the German participants ADAC Maico, ADAC Südbayern and Motorsport Offenbach am Main were free of penalty points and were tied with 12 other club teams. The Austrian ÖAMTC Jawa-Club took 16th place (tied with another team). The West German ADAC Hansa and Team I from the GDR were still tied on 26th place. The Swiss club FMS II took 30th place, the GDR team II 31st and FMS I was still in last place.

Nine drivers dropped out of the competition.

5th day

On the fifth day of the journey, 407 kilometers had to be covered. After the start, the route led via Kunovice, Slavkov u Brna , Brno , Křižanov , Bystřice nad Pernštejnem , Černá Hora , Račice and Kunovice back to Gottwaldov.

The intermediate results after the fifth day of driving: In the World Trophy, the team from Great Britain without penalty points continued ahead of Czechoslovakia and the FRG.

In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Czechoslovakia (A and B), the Netherlands (B), Poland (B) and Great Britain (A) were still without penalty points and were tied. In the team of the FRG, Walter Aukthun was eliminated, the team was in 9th place. The Swiss team was still in last place.

In the club classification, the German participants ADAC Maico, ADAC Südbayern and Motorsport Offenbach am Main were free of penalty points and were on par with six other club teams. The Austrian ÖAMTC Jawa Club took 12th place (tied with another team). The West German ADAC Hansa came in 27th, Team I from the GDR followed in 28th place. The Swiss Club FMS II took 30th place, Team II of the GDR and FMS I took 31st place.

16 drivers dropped out of the competition.

6th day

On the last day there was a 247-kilometer stage. After the start in Gottwaldov, it went via Uherský Brod, Bzenec , Kroměříž and Bystřice pod Hostýnem back to the starting point, where the final race (speed test) took place.

Four drivers dropped out of the competition. Of the 238 riders who started on the first day, 176 reached the finish.
