Uhrovec (Hungarian Zayugróc ) is a municipality in northwest Slovakia , in the Strážovské vrchy Mountains . It is located about 8 km from Bánovce nad Bebravou and 30 km from Trenčín .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing as Vgrovg in 1258 . Until 1918 the place was in the Kingdom of Hungary in Trenčín County , after which it came to the newly formed Czechoslovakia . Until 1945, a large part of the place was under the rule of the Zay family , who also gave a part of the village its Hungarian name. The inhabitants were mainly employed in agriculture, viticulture, sheep farming and fishing. In the middle of the 19th century there was also a woodworks in the village, which still exists as Drevovýrobu sro to this day, but the glass industry, which at times belonged to the company J. Schreiber & Neffen , no longer exists.
In 1968 the village of Látkovce further south was incorporated.
