Malá Hradná (Hungarian Kisradna - until 1907 Kisgradna ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 394 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Bánovce nad Bebravou of, part kraj Trenčiansky heard.

geography

The municipality is located in the northwestern part of the Nitrianska pahorkatina hills within the Slovakian Danube lowlands , on the central reaches of Hradniansky potok . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 290  m nm and is 10.5 kilometers from Bánovce nad Bebravou .

Neighboring municipalities are Svinná in the north, Dežerice in the east, Ruskovce in the southeast, Veľké Držkovce in the south, Dubodiel in the west and Veľká Hradná in the northwest.

history

Malá Hradná was first mentioned in writing in 1329 as Garadna Superior , together with the nearby Garadna Castle . The place was first owned by the noble Pogan family , later it was part of the estate of Trenčín . In 1598 there were 11 houses in the village, in 1787 the village had 31 houses, 46 families and 274 inhabitants. In 1828 there were 32 houses and 218 inhabitants who were employed as farmers and fruit growers.

Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. During the period of the first Czechoslovak Republic, agriculture remained the main source of income, and embroidery and weaving were common.

According to the 2011 census, there were 370 inhabitants in Malá Hradná, 339 of them Slovaks and one Czech . 30 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .

319 residents committed to the Roman Catholic Church, 16 residents to the Evangelical Church AB and one resident to the Evangelical Methodist Church. Four residents were non-denominational and the denomination of 30 residents was not determined.
