The Okres Bánovce nad Bebravou (German district Banowitz ) is an administrative area in western Slovakia with 38,385 inhabitants (2004) and an area of ​​462 km².

The district is located in the north-eastern part of western Slovakia and borders the Trenčín district in the north, the Prievidza district in the east, the Partizánske district in the southeast, the Topoľčany district in Nitriansky kraj in the southwest and the district for a short distance to the west Nové Mesto nad Váhom . It stretches along the Bebrava valley and includes part of the Strážovské vrchy as well as the Inowetz and Neutra hills ( Nitrianska pahorkatina ).

Historically, it is mostly located in the former Trenčín county (north), a small part in the south belongs to the former Neutra county (see also the list of historical counties of Hungary ).
