The Okres Nové Mesto is an administrative region in the north-west of Slovakia km² with 62,575 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and an area of 580th

The area extends at the end of the central Waag valley at the transition from the Považské podolie valley landscape to the Danube hill country , part of the Slovakian Danube lowlands . On the left bank of the Waag rises the Považský Inovec , while west of Nové Mesto nad Váhom you can find the Little Carpathians , which merge further north into the White Carpathians on the border with the Czech Republic .

The Okres bordered clockwise to the Czech Zlínský kraj in the north, to the Trenčín District in the northeast, Okres Bánovce nad Bebravou in the east, Okres Topoľčany (in Nitriansky kraj ) in the southeast, Piešťany District (in kraj Trnavský ) in the south, Okres Myjava in West and to the Czech Jihomoravský kraj in the north-west.

Historically, the district is mostly in the former Neutra County (south), the northern part in the former Trenčín County (see also the list of historical counties of Hungary ).
