Kočovce (Hungarian Kocsóc ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,625 (December 31, 2019), which for Nové Mesto nad Váhom District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky belongs.
geography
The village is located at the transition from one of the foothills of the Slovak Danube lowlands to the Považský Inovec mountains , on the left bank of the Váh . The town center is at an altitude of 183 m nm and is eight kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom .
Administratively, the municipality consists of the municipality parts Beckovská Vieska (incorporated in 1960), Kočovce (1888 after the merger of Dolné Kočovce and Horné Kočovce) and Rakoľuby (incorporated in 1960).
history
Kočovce was first mentioned in writing in 1321 as Huchk . Later, due to the different ownership structures, it was divided into Dolné Kočovce, which was owned by the regional landed gentry, and Horné Kočovce, which was part of the Beckov castle estate . The population in both places lived primarily from agriculture and animal husbandry. In 1828 there were 17 houses and 166 inhabitants in Dolné Kočovce and 26 houses and 292 inhabitants in Horné Kočovce. In 1888 both places were reunited.
Beckovská Vieska was first mentioned in writing in 1396. At first it belonged to the local landed gentry, then to the manor of Beckov Castle. In 1828 there are 30 houses and 272 inhabitants. In addition to agriculture, residents burned spirits.
Rakoľuby was first mentioned in writing in 1262 as Rakolup and has always belonged to the landed gentry. In 1828 there are 22 houses and 224 inhabitants. In addition to agriculture, there was a distillery in the village in the 19th century.

- Baroque country castle in Kočovce with a park, built in 1730, expanded in 1880 under the leadership of Géza Rakovszky, confiscated by the state in 1948, today owned by the Slovak Technical University in Bratislava , which uses it as a rest home
