Kálnica (Hungarian Kalanos - until 1907 Kálnic ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,060 (December 31, 2019), which for Nové Mesto nad Váhom District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky belongs.
geography
The municipality is located in the northern end of the Danube hill country below the Považský Inovec mountains running to the east . The Kalnický creek flows through the village and flows into the Waag a few kilometers downstream . The soils suitable for agriculture are moderately fertile. The highest point of the municipality is on the mountain Ostrý vrch ( 910 m nm ). The center of the village is at an altitude of 215 m nm and is seven kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom and 25 kilometers from Trenčín .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1396 as Kabucza . The story is closely linked to that of the nearby Beckov Castle due to the fact that it belongs to their estate. Due to complicated power relations, two districts were created later, which only merged again in 1888: Panská Kálnica and Rožnova Kálnica. Both places remained dominated by agriculture and at that time viticulture, fishing, weaving and the manufacture of wood products were also common.
