Zemianske Podhradie (until 1927 Slovak "Zemanské Podhradie"; Hungarian Nemesváralja - until 1907 Nemespodhragy ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 774 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Nové Mesto nad Váhom District , part of the kraj Trenčiansky , heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the White Carpathians in the Bošáčka valley . The center of the village is at an altitude of 178 m nm and is nine kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom .
Neighboring communities are Nová Bošáca in the north and Bošáca in the east, south and west.
history
In today's municipality there was a fortress from the Hallstatt period and a settlement of the Puchau culture .
Zemianske Podhradie was first mentioned in writing in 1397 as Podhrady and belonged to the manor of Beckov Castle , later the place was owned by the Pohrády , Erdődy and Osztrolúkay families . In 1598 the village had 22 houses. In 1784 there were 149 houses, 178 families and 886 residents; half went to Edler. In 1828 there were 111 houses and 823 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture and veneer production. In the 19th century there were four distilleries and one brick factory in the village.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, Zemianske Podhradie had 753 inhabitants, of whom 738 were Slovaks , 8 Czechs , 2 Magyars and 1 German, Serb and Ukrainian each. 354 residents committed themselves to the Evangelical Church AB, 217 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, 2 residents each to the Evangelical Methodist Church, the Orthodox Church and the Pentecostal Movement and 1 resident to the Greek Catholic Church; 3 residents professed a different denomination. 67 inhabitants were without religious denomination and the denomination was not determined for 105 inhabitants.
