Podolie (Hungarian Felsőleszéte - until 1907 Leszéte - until 1898 Podola ) is a municipality and a town in the west of Slovakia , with a population of 1,889 (December 31, 2019). The inhabitants are almost exclusively Slovaks.
geography
The municipality is located in the upper Danube hill country on the upper Dudváh , partly also in the Little Carpathians , 11 kilometers south of Nové Mesto nad Váhom and 14 kilometers northwest of Piešťany .
history
Podolie was first mentioned in writing in 1392 as Lessethe .
In 1957 the place Korytné (Hungarian Alsóleszéte ) was incorporated into the municipality.

- Roman Catholic St. George's Church, originally Gothic from the 14th century, redesigned in Baroque style from 1748–58, expanded by two chapels at the beginning of the 20th century
- Late Classicist bell tower in the Korytné district
