Dolné Srnie (until the 19th century Slovak "Beckovské Srnie"; Hungarian Alsószernye - until 1907 Alsószrnye ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with 987 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Nové Mesto nad Váhom District of, a part Trenčiansky kraj , heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the far north of the Trnavská pahorkatina hill country , part of the Danube hill country , between the Little and White Carpathians . The Klanečnica , which belongs to the catchment area of the Waag , flows on the western edge of the village . The center of the village is at an altitude of 230 m nm and is five kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom .
Neighboring municipalities are Bošáca in the north and north-east, Trenčianske Bohuslavice in the east, Nové Mesto nad Váhom in the south, Bzince pod Javorinou in the west and Moravské Lieskové in the north-west.
history
The municipality of Dolné Srnie was settled in the Neolithic Age and there was a settlement of the band ceramic culture here .
In the Middle Ages, after the area was incorporated into the Hungarian state, the area was part of the dominion of Beckov Castle . As part of it, the place was first mentioned in writing in 1477 as Zerne . In 1598 there were 64 houses in Dolné Srnie, in 1720 the village had two mills and 61 taxpayers. In 1784 the village had 99 houses, 135 families and 625 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 93 houses and 878 inhabitants, whose main sources of income were agriculture and fruit growing.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. In the first Czechoslovak Republic , the manufacture of brooms, basketry and embroidery were common.

According to the 2011 census, Dolné Srnie had 965 inhabitants, of which 947 were Slovaks , 7 Czechs and 1 Pole . 1 resident indicated a different ethnic group and 9 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
414 residents committed to the Evangelical Church AB, 281 residents to the Roman Catholic Church, 7 residents to the Apostolic Church, 6 residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church, 4 residents to the Greek Catholic Church and 1 resident each to the Orthodox Church and the Reformed Church. 193 residents had no denomination and the denomination of 58 residents was not determined.
