Bzince pod Javorinou (German Bzinetz , Hungarian Botfalu ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia , with a population of 2,110 (December 31, 2019). It is located in Okres Nové Mesto nad Váhom , which belongs to the higher political district Trenčiansky kraj .
geography
Bzince pod Javorinou is located in a valley by the streams Kamečnica and Vrzavka , between the Little Carpathians in the south and the White Carpathians in the north, in which the Veká Javorina mountain ( 970 m nm ) is also located. The center of the village is six kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom and 30 kilometers from Trenčín .
Administratively, the municipality is divided into parts of the municipality Bzince pod Javorinou, Cetuna, Hrubá Strana and Hrušové. In addition to these official parts, there are also other individual settlements typical of this region in the White Carpathians (Slovak Kopanice ).
history
The present municipality was created in 1952 through the merger of Dolné Bzince and Horné Bzince. In 1960 the previously independent town of Hrušové ( Russian Russó ) was added.
The first written mention as a bot comes from the years 1332–37 in a church tithe directory.
Attractions
- Classicist Protestant church from the years 1793–95. The tower was only added in 1895.
- Roman Catholic Church of the Archangel Michael from the 14th century, repaired in the 17th and 18th centuries
- The birthplace of the writer Ľudmila Podjavorinská, now a museum
