Nova Ves nad Vahom (until 1927 Slovak "Považská Nová Ves" or "Vah Novejsa"; German Neudorf at the Waag , Hungarian Vágújfalu ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia , with 560 inhabitants (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Nové Mesto nad Váhom , part of Trenčiansky kraj , belongs.

geography

The municipality is located in the northern foothills of the Trnavská pahorkatina hills , part of the Slovakian Danube lowlands , on the left bank of the Váh , which is here across the highway. The Považský Inovec rises further to the east . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 180  m nm and is eight kilometers from Nové Mesto nad Váhom .

Neighboring municipalities are Kočovce in the north, Kálnica in the east, Hôrka nad Váhom in the south, Považany in the southwest and Nové Mesto nad Váhom in the west.

history

The place was first mentioned in writing as Wyfalw , other old names are Nova Villa (1552) and Nowa Wes (1773). The village was part of the domain of Beckov Castle , in 1598 there were 44 houses, in 1720 there were vineyards and 36 taxpayers lived there. In 1828 there were 85 houses and 810 inhabitants, whose main source of income was agriculture.

Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

From 1976 to 1990 Nová Ves nad Váhom was part of the neighboring municipality Kočovce.

population

According to the 2011 census, Nová Ves nad Váhom had 561 residents, 555 of whom were Slovaks and 3 Czechs . 3 residents did not provide any information on ethnicity .

453 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 17 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, 10 residents to the Apostolic Church, 4 residents to the Baptists and 2 residents each to the Jehovah's Witnesses and to the Evangelical Methodist Church; 1 resident indicated another denomination. 58 inhabitants were without a denomination and the denomination was not determined for 14 residents.
