Dežerice (Hungarian Dezsér ) is a municipality in the west of Slovakia with a population of 1,018 (December 31, 2019), which for Okres Bánovce nad Bebravou of, part kraj Trenčiansky heard.
geography
The municipality is located in the north-western part of the Nitrianska pahorkatina hills within the Slovak Danube lowlands , in a small side valley of the Machnáč brook . The center of the village lies at an altitude of 239 m nm and is six and a half kilometers from Bánovce nad Bebravou .
Administratively, the municipality consists of the main town Dežerice and the town of Vlčkovo, which was incorporated in 1964 (until 1948 "Farkaška").
Neighboring municipalities are Horňany and Timoradza in the north, Podlužany in the north-east and east, Bánovce nad Bebravou ( Horné Ozorovce district ) in the south-east and south, Ruskovce in the south-west, Malá Hradná in the west and Svinná in the north-west.
history
Dežerice was first mentioned in writing in 1208 as terra Dezir . The place name is derived from the Latin personal name Desiderius . The place was owned by noble families Dežerický and Vysočanský . In 1598 there were 30 houses in Dežerice, in 1828 there were 70 houses and 931 inhabitants who were employed as farmers. In the 19th century, two distilleries and a water saw worked in the village.
Until 1918 the place in Trenčín County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.
population
According to the 2011 census, 646 people lived in Dežerice, including 621 Slovaks , five Czechs and one Croat and one Pole . Seven residents indicated a different ethnic group and 11 residents gave no information about the ethnic group .
428 residents committed themselves to the Roman Catholic Church, 116 residents to the Evangelical Church AB, eight residents to the Apostolic Church, three residents each to the Greek Catholic Church and the Orthodox Church and two residents to the Evangelical Methodist Church. 55 inhabitants had no denomination and the denomination of 31 residents was not determined.
