San Demetrio Corone (in Arbëresh , IPA : [ar'bəreʃ] : Shën Mitri ) is an Italian municipality founded by Arbëresh ( IPA : [ar'bəreʃ] ) in the province of Cosenza in Calabria with 3282 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) .

The community of San Demetrio Corone (Bashkia e Shën Mitri) has had a community partnership ( Unione Arbëria ) with four other Arbëresh communities in the province of Cosenza: Santa Sofia d'Epiro , San Cosmo Albanese , San Giorgio Albanese and Vaccarizzo Albanese .

Location and dates

San Demetrio Corone is located about 55 kilometers north of Cosenza on the right bank of the Crati River . The neighboring municipalities are Acri , Corigliano-Rossano , San Cosmo Albanese , Santa Sofia d'Epiro , Tarsia , Terranova da Sibari and Vaccarizzo Albanese .
