Rende is a town in Calabria , 7 km east of Cosenza . It has 36,250 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) and an area of 54 km².
The neighboring municipalities are Castiglione Cosentino , Castrolibero , Cosenza , Marano Marchesato , Marano Principato , Montalto Uffugo , Rose , San Fili , San Lucido , San Pietro in Guarano , San Vincenzo La Costa and Zumpano .
The Università della Calabria is located in the Arcavacata district .
history
The city was founded in the 6th century BC. Founded. In the 11th century, the Normans built a castle on the highest point of the village, which is now the town hall.

The churches worth seeing include the Santa Maria Maggiore , built at the beginning of the 16th century, and the Baroque church Chiesa del Rosario from the 17th century.
