Saracena is an Italian city in the province of Cosenza in Calabria with 3615 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Saracena is located about 69 km north of Cosenza on the upper reaches of the Garga River . The neighboring municipalities are Altomonte , Castrovillari , Firmo , Lungro , Morano Calabro , Mormanno , Orsomarso and San Basile .

Attractions

In the village there is a ruin of a castle from the 13th century. The parish church and tower date from the 13th century. In the church of S. Maria del Gamio there is a baroque panel painting and there is a wooden ceiling from the 17th century.
