Praia a Mare [ˈpraːja a ˈmaːre] is an Italian city in the province of Cosenza in Calabria with 6634 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).

Location and dates

Praia a Mare is located about 107 km north of Cosenza on the coast of the Tyrrhenian Sea . The neighboring communities are Aieta , Papasidero , San Nicola Arcella , Santa Domenica Talao and Tortora .

Attractions

The landmark of Praia a Mare is the Isola di Dino in front of it. The Santuario della Madonna della Grotta is located near the city center and houses a wooden statue of the Madonna and Child from the 15th century. From August 13th to 18th, there is a regular festival in her honor. There is a castle from the Middle Ages in the village.
