Paola is 37 km west of Cosenza on the Tyrrhenian Sea and is a center for trade and agriculture.

The neighboring municipalities are Fuscaldo , Montalto Uffugo , San Fili and San Lucido .

history

In July 1555, Paola was conquered and burned by the Turks under Turgut Reis . An earthquake destroyed the city on December 3, 1887 to a large extent.

Attractions

The pilgrimage church of Franz von Paola is located in the village. The complex dates from the Baroque , partly also from the Renaissance . The church has a rich interior and a cloister from the 15th / 16th centuries. Century. The library dates from the 17th century.
