Santa Sofia d'Epiro (in Arbëresh , IPA : [ar'bəreʃ] : Shën Sofia ) is an Italian municipality in the province of Cosenza in Calabria with 2407 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019).
The municipality of Santa Sofia d'Epiro (Bashkia e Shën Sofia) has had a municipal partnership ( Unione Arbëria ) with four other Arbëresh communities in the province of Cosenza: San Demetrio Corone , San Cosmo Albanese , San Giorgio Albanese and Vaccarizzo Albanese .
Location and dates
Santa Sofia d'Epiro is located about 45 km north of Cosenza . The neighboring municipalities are Acri , Bisignano , Tarsia and the Arbëresh municipality of San Demetrio Corone .

Santa Sofia d'Epiro was repopulated by Albanian refugees (Arbëresh) in 1472 .
