Anton Bogetić

Anton Bogetić (born April 24, 1922 in Premantura , Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes ; † April 19, 2017 in Pula ) was the Roman Catholic Bishop of Poreč-Pula .

Life

Anton Bogetić was born in the Istrian town of Premantura. He attended the grammar school in Koper . Bogetić studied theology and philosophy in Rome . His ordination took place on June 29, 1946 in Poreč . From 1946 to 1947 he worked as chaplain in the parish of St.  Lucia of Labin in Poreč, and from 1947 to 1950 as pastor in the Istrian Labin . Bogetić took over the role of episcopal secretary in the diocese of Poreč and Pula from 1950 to 1952. From 1962 to 1967 he was spiritual director at the seminary of Pazin . Anton Bogetić was vicar general in the diocese of Poreč and Pula from 1967 to 1980. As a four-year Christian missionary , from 1980 to 1984 in Argentina .

Pope John Paul II appointed him Bishop of Poreč and Pula on January 27, 1984. The Archbishop of Zagreb , Cardinal Franjo Kuharić , donated him episcopal ordination on April 28th of the same year. Co- consecrators were the Archbishop of Rijeka-Senj , Josip Pavlišić , and his predecessor Dragutin Nežic .

After a total of 51 years of pastoral care as a Roman Catholic pastor and 13 years as Bishop of Poreč and Pula, Bishop Anton Bogetić retired on November 18, 1997. John Paul II accepted his age-related resignation.
