Ivan Milovan

Ivan Milovan (born September 22, 1940 in Svetvinčenat , Kingdom of Italy , now Croatia ) was bishop of the Roman Catholic diocese of Poreč-Pula from 1997 to 2012 .

Life

Ivan Milovan attended the classical high school in the seminary of Pazin . He studied theology first at the Faculty of Pazin, and from 1961 to 1964 at the Catholic Faculty in Zagreb . Ivan Milovan was ordained a priest on July 25, 1964 . His master's in theology gained Ivan Milovan 1965. As a church vicar acted Milovan in Porec and managed, pastoral in 1964 to 1965, the parish Nova Ves in Porec. From 1965 to 1967 he was the parish vicar in Rovinj . From 1967 to 1970 he was Prefect of the Pazin Seminary. As an employee in the pastoral service, his long-term activity took place again in Rovinj, between the years 1970 to 1981. Ibid he was pastor in 1981 until his appointment as Bishop of Poreč-Pula on November 18, 1997. On January 10, 1998 the solemn inauguration as bishop of the diocese of Poreč-Pula. At the Croatian Bishops' Conference , Bishop Ivan Milovan is President of the Council for Affairs on Migrants and Migration (Sociology) .

In the summer of 2011 he turned to the Croatian government for support in the dispute with the Vatican over the Dajla Monastery . Apparently under pressure from the Vatican, Milovan resigned in June 2012, his successor as Bishop was Dražen Kutleša , whom the Vatican had previously assigned as coadjutor to him.
