Mongrassano (in Arbëresh , IPA : [ ar'bəreʃ ] : Mungrasana ) is an Italian municipality with 1530 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Cosenza in Calabria .

Location and dates

Mongrassano is located about 17 km southeast of Cosenza on the Crati River . The neighboring municipalities are Acquappesa , Bisignano , Cervicati , Cerzeto , Fagnano Castello , Fuscaldo , Guardia Piemontese and San Marco Argentano .

history

Mongrassano was repopulated by Albanian refugees (Arbëresh) around 1470 .
