18. International six-day trip

The 18th International Six-Day Tour was an off-road motorcycle competition that took place from September 17th to 22nd, 1936 in Freudenstadt , the Black Forest , the Allgäu Alps and the Chiemgau . The national teams of Great Britain were able to win the trophy and the silver vase for the ninth time.

254 drivers from ten FICM motorsport associations were registered for the competition . Teams from five nations competed for the trophy. In addition, 17 silver vase, 28 factory and 38 club teams were at the start.

A gold medal was given to those who crossed the finish line without penalty points. For a silver medal, no more than 10 penalty points were allowed at the finish and a bronze medal was awarded to those who had not accumulated more than 50 penalty points.

1 day

Of the 254 registered riders, 245 started the competition. There was heavy rainfall throughout the day.

On the first day of the journey, the 297-kilometer route led from the start in Freudenstadt via Baiersbronn , Kälberbronn , Wörnersberg , Altensteig , Lengenloch, Fünfbronn , Sankt Anton, Hohloh , Reichental , Lautenbach , Hilpertsau , the Rot Lache pass , Bermersbach , Herrenwies , Scherrhof, Plattig, and Langenberg to the Kurhaus Hundseck where the lunch break took place. We continued via Erbersbronn , Kurhaus Breite Brunnen, Ottenhöfen , Ruhstein, Oberlas, Zuflucht , the Kniebis and Baiersbronn back to the starting point. Separate mountain tests took place at Reichenthal and Ottenhöfen.

In the Trophy ranking, the teams of the German Reich and Great Britain were tied without penalty points. France (15 penalty points), Italy (100 penalty points) and Czechoslovakia (109 penalty points) followed. The latter two teams each suffered a driver failure, which resulted in 100 penalty points per day.

In the silver vase ranking, the teams from Great Britain (A and B), Austria (A and B), Ireland and the Netherlands (A) were tied without any penalty points. In the German A team, Walfried Winkler received 10 penalty points and in the B team Heiner Fleischmann 13 penalty points, which meant eighth and ninth place for the teams. In the Swiss team, F. Dumont received four penalty points.

25 drivers dropped out of the competition.

2 day

On the second day of the competition, the route from Freudenstadt via Griesbach , Oberharmersbach , Oberwind , Oberwolfach , Zell , Haslach , Elzach , Martinskapelle, Falkensteig , Oberried , Fahl and Menzenschwand led to the lunch break in St. Blasien . We continued via Neustadt , Fuchsfalle and Schiltach back to Freudenstadt. Separate mountain tests took place near Oberried and Fahl.

In the Trophy ranking, the teams of the German Reich and Great Britain were still tied without penalty points. It was followed by France (117 penalty points), Italy (200) and Czechoslovakia (209). The Italian team also had to record a driver failure.

In the silver vase rating, the teams from Great Britain (A and B), Austria (A and B), Ireland and the Netherlands (A) were tied, as on the previous day, with no penalty points. In the German A-team, Waltfried Winkler received another penalty point. In the Swiss team, F. Dumont received another four penalty points.

13 drivers dropped out of the competition.

3rd day

Garmisch-Partenkirchen , start and finish of individual stages

On the third day, after starting in Freudenstadt, the route led via Ziegelwasen, Empfingen , Geislingen , Thiergarten , Sigmaringen , Pfullendorf , Zußdorf and Weingarten to Wangen, where the lunch break took place. It continued via Weitnau , Nesselwang , Füssen and Oberammergau to the destination Garmisch-Partenkirchen . A mountain test took place at Ziegelwasen and a terrain test at Pfullendorf.

Only the teams of the German Reich and Great Britain were still free of penalty points in the Trophy classification. France (227 penalty points), Italy (300) and Czechoslovakia (309) followed.

In the silver vase ranking, the teams from Great Britain (A and B), Austria (A and B), Ireland and the Netherlands (A) were still free of penalty points. Arthur Geiss dropped out in the German A-team , which meant 100 penalty points for the team from then on. In addition, Waltfried Winkler received a further 18 penalty points. In the Swiss team, F. Dumont received eleven additional penalty points.

16 drivers dropped out of the competition.

4th day

The Kesselbergstrasse was part of the 4th day's stage

On the fourth day of the journey, a route from Garmisch via Klais , Walchensee , Jachenau , Gaißach , Bad Tölz , Holzkirchen , Weyarn , Siegsdorf and Mauthäusl to the Königssee had to be driven until the lunch break . We continued via Bad Reichenhall , Inzell , Weißbach , Teisendorf , Siegsdorf, Holzkirchen and the Kesselbergstraße back to Garmisch. A flat test took place near Weyarn and a mountain test took place on Kesselbergstrasse.

In the Trophy classification, the teams of the German Empire and Great Britain were still free of penalty points. France (430 penalty points), Italy (500) and Czechoslovakia (509) followed.

In the silver vase ranking, the teams from Great Britain (A and B), Austria (B) and the Netherlands (A) were still free of penalty points. E. Th. Martinak dropped out in the Austrian A-team, which from then on meant 100 penalty points for the team. With Waltfried Winkler, the German A-team suffered the second driver absence. In the Swiss team, F. Dumont received another penalty point.

Eleven drivers dropped out of the competition.

5th day

The route on the fifth day led from Garmisch via Mittenwald , Vorderriß , Kreuth, Enterrottach , Josephstal , Miesbach, Dietramszell , Sankt Heinrich , the Würmsee , the Echelsbacher Brücke and Schöffau back to the starting point Garmisch.

In the trophy standings, only the team from Great Britain were still free of penalty points and were therefore in first place. In the team of the German Reich Ernst Jakob Henne received 2 penalty points, which meant second place for the team. France (329 penalty points), Italy (400) and Czechoslovakia (409 penalty points) followed.

In the silver vase evaluation, the teams from Great Britain (A and B), Austria (B) and the Netherlands (A) were still without penalty points and were tied. In the Swiss team, F. Dumont received another penalty point.

Seven drivers dropped out of the competition.

6th day

The last day's stage led from Garmisch via Graswang , Unterreith, Albertsried , Petersthal , Hindelang and Nesselwang to Füssen. The final race was held on a triangular road course from Füssen.

The German Trophy driver Ernst Jakob Henne received a further 17 penalty points during the day's stage.

Three drivers dropped out of the competition. Of the 245 riders who started on the first day, 170 reached the finish.
